Upper 15th Street is changing fast: Places like Lola and Karma opened in the last year, and the new Highland Bridge and long-awaited Vitamin Cottage are both about to. But in the midst of all that change, designer/boutique-owner and neighborhood veteran Mona Lucero has been keeping stride, stocking her shop's racks with beautiful "fashion-forward chic" clothing for city girls.

Tonight Lucero will show off a little when she hosts the Lower Highlands Fall Fashion Show, a stylish vehicle for her own designs that also features other local work. She'll take advantage of more LoHi neighbors on the blossoming block by using stage sets from Red Door Swingin', makeup by Brows and hair by Tuana Hair Design, culminating in something she can only describe as "inspired by beatniks, kabuki, harajuku and the '60s." In other words, expect a heady powerhouse pop-culture stew set off by retro tunes and dramatic 'dos.

The catwalk opens for business from 6:30 to 11 p.m. at Mona Lucero Design Boutique, 2544 15th Street; admission is free, and swag bags will be available for the first fifty fashionistas who show up. Call 303-458-0090 or visit www.monalucero.com.
Fri., Feb. 9, 6-10 p.m.
