Marathon Men

Run with your favorite Denver celebrity.

It's not easy finding celebrities in Denver — but the Denver Marathon took a good run at it for this year's Celebrity Inspiration Run Online Auction. Thirteen of the town's biggest, boldest names will be auctioned off for a good cause, with proceeds from the online auction benefiting the celebrities' charities of choice — and the winning bidders getting to not only dine with their celebrities on October 13 at the motivational Celebrity Dinner, but also run alongside them the next day on a two-mile portion of the Denver Marathon relay.

"We looked for all kinds of public figures who might inspire other people to run," explains Regan Petersen of the Denver Marathon. "We had a great list, and it came together pretty quickly." That list includes Olympic swimmer Rowdy Gaines, former Bronco Bill Romanowski, Opie Gone Bad's Jake Schroeder, CBS4 sportscaster Vic Lombardi and Survivor's Ami Cusack. Online bidding started last Friday and ends at midnight Sunday, October 7; to find out more details on the auction, go to www.blacktiecolorado.com or just grab your star at www.denvermarathon.com. That's also the place where you can register for the October 14 Denver Marathon, which includes a half-marathon, the relay and a kids' run.
