Accentuate the Positive

While little kids like to see the characters of their favorite books spring to life in mascot costumes, older kids are a little harder to please. In author Justina Chen Headley's case, she couldn't bring her young snowboarding character to life when she headed out on tour — so instead, she brought along Olympic Gold Medalist snowboarder Hannah Teter, whom Headley consulted for her young-adult novel Girl Overboard.

Together they're visiting bookstores and schools on the Positive Turn Girl Overboard Book Tour -- and tonight at 7 p.m., they'll be at the Tattered Cover LoDo, 1628 16th Street. Girl Overboard's main character, Syrah, uses her talents to help charity, and Headley and Teter have done the same: As part of the tour, they're promoting the Burton-funded Go Overboard Challenge Grant (www.burton.com/gobsite/BookTour.aspx). For details, call 303-436-1070 or visit www.tatteredcover.com or www.myspace.com/girloverboardtour.
