A Healthy Appreciation

Abend Gallery celebrates Colorado’s sporting spirit through art.

We all know what keeps the masses flocking to Colorado: the Rocky Mountain High — that special brand of adrenaline offered to all active denizens, who take their pick from a wide variety of blood-pumping or leisure activities in the state’s mountains, rivers and parks. Tonight, Abend Gallery, 2260 East Colfax Avenue, honors that tradition with a new exhibit titled The Art of Sport. The gallery has held court in the historic Wyman district since 1990, showcasing local artists and a few from the national circuit, as well as offering framing services and curatorial expertise to the community. The Art of Sport opens tonight with a reception from 5 to 9 p.m., then stays up through July 5. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. For more information, call 303-355-0950 or visit www.abendgallery.com.
