The first photo in the series (above) was taken outside Metropolis Coffee on Broadway (formerly Happy Coffee) in 2013. The father and daughter have since taken photos in front of murals all around Denver.
Are photo albums a thing of the past? Perhaps. But using photos to chronicle change sure isn't. Starting in 2013, Jason Rutkofsky has been taking photos of his daughter, Ella, in front of Denver street art — documenting not only her growth, but also the city's ever-changing murals.

"At first she just sort of went along with it, but eventually, I think she started to enjoy the hunt around town for murals, and so did I, so it became this little thing we had," Rutkofsky says. "I'd love to keep it going! I'm not sure if she'll keep humoring me forever, but as long as Ella's still up for it, I will be!"
