Twenty Places to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day in Denver

March 17 is the day we celebrate Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, by painting ourselves green, drinking lots of emerald-colored beer and getting involved in all kinds of general debauchery — because what better way to remember a saint? The festivities kicked off this past weekend with the annual St. Patrick's Day parade taking over downtown Denver on Saturday, but the fun is far from over. Events continue through the week, peak on St. Paddy's on Thursday, and then a few even spill over into the weekend. Here are 21 places to celebrate St. Patrick's, in alphabetical order.

The Abbey Tavern 
5151 East Colfax Avenue
The Abbey Tavern will be celebrating on St. Patrick's Day with live music, pipers, Irish dancers and traditional Irish fare. The pub will open at 11 a.m. for lunch with a special Irish menu and will have giveaways throughout the day; the Colorado Youth Pipe Band Community will perform at 6:30 p.m., followed by Irish dancing at 7. Boulder Theater

The Boulder Theater will host a free St. Patrick's Day party on Thursday, March 17, starting at 5:30 p.m. The party will feature drink specials from Boulder Beer and Jameson, a $10 Irish-meal option and live music from Pro Leisure, the Al Capones and others. The Exchange Tavern 
11940 Bradburn Boulevard, Westminster 
The Exchange Tavern in will hold its tenth annual St Patrick’s Day celebration as part of its ten-year anniversary celebration. There will be a limited holiday menu available all week through Friday, March 18, which includes corned beef and cabbage, bangers and colcannon, Irish stew, and fish and chips. Drink specials include $3 well drinks and Bud Light drafts, $5 Irish Car Bombs, and $5.50 Guinness and Irish Banshees. Fadó Irish Pub

Every year Fadó puts on one of the largest St. Paddy's Day parties in Denver, and this year is no exception. As usual, the bar will have tents set up in the plaza across from Coors Field so that party-goers can celebrate in a little fresh air.  There will be live music, dancing, Irish food, plenty of drinks and more. Doors open at 6 a.m. on March 17, but the block party doesn't get under way until 10 a.m; tickets are $10 and can be bought at the door or in advance here. The Fainting Goat

The Fainting Goat will open at 11 a.m. on St. Patrick's Day, and offer guests special pricing on corned beef and cabbage, Guinness and Jameson. The bar will also have live music. Admission is free, call 303-945-2323 for more information.  

Hard Rock Cafe    
500 16th Street 
The Hard Rock Cafe has teamed up with Guinness for a seasonal burger-and-beer pairing available through April 10. The Guinness & Jameson Bacon Cheeseburger, paired with a Guinness draught, is a half-pound certified Angus beef patty topped with Jameson-bacon jam, garlic aioli and Guinness cheese sauce. Irish Rover

The Irish Rover opens at 11 a.m. for St. Paddy's Day, and will offer revelers traditional Irish pub food, pipers and step dancers. The live music and dancing goes down from 1:30 to 8:30 p.m. For more information. contact the Rover at 303-282-4643. 

Irish Snug

Kegs and Eggs is a St. Patrick's Day staple in Denver. The eleventh annual event will take over LoDo's starting at 7 a.m. on St. Patrick's Day, with musical guests Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, St Motel and Amzy. On march 17, the Mercury Cafe will host Go Green for St. Patrick's Day and Stay Green for Your Planet, bringing traditional yet modern Irish fare – all-organic corned beef and cabbage – to the table, and non-traditional entertainment, featuring poet and Native American flutist Valerie Szarek, singer Laurie Dameron and magician/mentalist Erica Sodos, to the stage, from 5:45 to 8:15 p.m. Admission to the show is a donation of $5 to $15; food, should you decide to dine, is extra. Nallen's

Stir Cooking School

Stir will host the Luck of the Irish cooking class at 6:30 p.m. on March 17, when students will learn how to cook a handful of Irish favorites, including homemade Irish soda bread with aged Irish cheddar, beer cheese soup, Guinness cake and more.
